Baby #2 on the Way!

We already shared this on Instagram & Facebook but I haven't had a chance to blog about it yet.  We are expecting baby #2!  My due date is June 3rd and we couldn't be more excited to add another little one to our family.  I found out I was pregnant the first week of October when we were in the middle of moving into our new apartment.  I bought Jimmy Fallon's book Your Baby's First Word will be Dada  and gave that to Bryce with my pregnancy test to surprise him with the news.  He was pretty surprised when I gave it to him and even asked, "Wait, so this test is positive?"  Once he got over the surprise/shock he was way excited, probably more than I was haha.  We had our first doctor's appointment at the end of October and everything looked great.  We got to hear the baby's heart beat and see it on the ultrasound.  We took Claire with us, even though she has no idea what's going on, it was still fun to have her there.  We decided to wait and tell our families on Thanksgiving.  I made Claire's 'Big Sister' sweatshirt with a freezer paper stencil & fabric paint.  We tried to get a picture of her wearing the sweatshirt and holding the ultrasound to send to all of Bryce's siblings who live out of state, but she would NOT hold the ultrasound.  After several tries we got the money shot, the last picture in this post, that we sent to his siblings and posted on Instagram & Facebook later on Thanksgiving night.  We had Claire wear the sweatshirt to Thanksgiving dinner at my grandparents but we didn't say anything to anyone when we got there.  My mom was holding Claire and after she took off her coat not even a minute went by before she asked excitedly, "Is this an announcement?!"  We excitedly said yes and told everyone our due date.  It was so nice to finally tell everyone.  It was getting hard to keep a secret, especially because I feel like I've started showing much sooner than I did with Claire!

I had my second doctor's appointment the day before Thanksgiving but I was only 12 1/2 weeks so it was still too early to really tell the gender.  We are definitely finding out (I am too much of planner not too) and we should for sure find out what we're having at our appointment in December.  I can't wait to have another little baby too snuggle and I especially can't wait to see Claire become a big sister!

Snow Day

On Thanksgiving we woke up to a winter wonderland, just as I had been hoping for.  Claire woke us up around 7 so we spent the first part of the morning eating breakfast and watching the Macy's Day Parade.  After the sun came up and it warmed up a few degrees we bundled up in our snow clothes and went outside to play in the freshly fallen snow.  We gave Claire one of her Christmas gifts (new coat + snow pants) early so she could play in the snow.
Claire loved it just as much as she had the night before.  She loved stomping in it, kicking it, and throwing it it everywhere.  It was so funny watching her waddle around in her puffy snowsuit.
We tried to teach her how to make snow angels, but she just played in the snow and giggled.  She couldn't move her arms and legs very well with all her snow gear on haha, but she still thought laying in the snow was hilarious.
We hooked Rory up to the sled and had her pull Claire around the yard.  It was so cute!  Claire loved it and had the biggest smile on her face the whole time.  Rory tolerated it, but I don't think she enjoyed it quite as much as Claire.  We played outside for about an hour and then went inside to get warmed up and ready to leave for Thanksgiving dinner.  We went to my Grandma & Grandpa Richins' house for Thanksgiving dinner.  I took my camera but forgot my memory card so I didn't get to take a single picture the rest of the day.  I was a little bummed but figured I take enough pictures that it would probably be okay if I missed one holiday this year.  We had a great day spent with family and went home with full tummies and hearts filled with gratitude!

First Snowfall

Last Wednesday we finally had the first real snowfall!  I was so excited when I looked out the window and saw that it had started snowing.  I maybe squealed like a little kid and hurriedly dragged Claire to the window to show her the snow.  As soon as there was a little bit of snow on the ground I bundled us up in our coats and snowboots so we could go play outside in it for a few minutes before it got dark.
Claire loved it and was just as excited as her mama about all the fluffy white flakes falling from the sky.
Catching snowflakes on her finger.
We stayed outside as long as we could until it got dark and our fingers starting getting cold (which was too soon for Claire's liking, she would've stayed outside all night).  The first snowfall is always magical!  It's something special I look forward to every year and it was so fun getting to see Claire experience it this year.

Yard Clean Up

Bryce had the day off of work and only one class in the morning yesterday so we finally got around to cleaning up all the leaves in our yard. We bundled Claire up and let her tromp around through them with Rory one last time before we raked them all up.

I was playing fetch with Rory and she got tired and lied down to rest for a minute.  Claire saw her and decided she needed a rest too.
My happy giggly girl.
After we had been outside for a while I started loading up the car because I needed to run some errands.  Rory, not wanting to get left behind jumped into the car as soon as I opened up my door.  She is such a funny dog.  She didn't get to come with me but she did get to stay and play with Bryce outside while he finished up. Now that our yard is all cleaned we are so ready for the snow storm that is supposed to hit tonight.  I have been wanting it to snow so badly since the beginning of November.  There was one teaser of a storm and than a few other times where other places got snow but we keep getting missed!  Hopefully tonight a big snow storm will finally hit us!

Life Lately

The whole month of November has almost gone by and I've hardly blogged at all, probably because we haven't really done anything that feels blogworthy lately.  Bryce is extremely busy with school and work.  We're lucky if we get to see him more than an hour a day.  Claire is keeping me busy all the time.  She is at such a fun age learning new things constantly.  She's been learning her colors and how to count.  She loves nursery and going to discovery time at the library every week.  Here's a bit of what we've been up to lately:
Decorating the window with princesses.
Having daily tea parties.
Enjoying any bit of sun we get since its been so cloudy lately (although I'm still really wishing for snow).
Reading lots of books.  This one, The Art of Racing in the Rain, is one of my new favorites!
French braiding Claire's hair for the first time.  I still need more practice but it turned out pretty cute for my first try with her baby-fine hair.  I got her to sit still long enough by putting on Frozen.  She loves Anna & Elsa and will sit through the whole movie!

This is basically what our whole November has looked like with a few walks and playtime outside thrown in.  We are ready for the holidays and for Bryce's semester to be over with!

Halloween 2015

For Halloween this year we decided to dress up as Goldilocks and the Three Bears!  We always have lots of fun coming up with ideas and we had a few other close contenders, but Goldilocks and Three Bears won out this year.  I sewed Claire's little pinafore and used a shirt, shoes, and knee socks she already had.  I made our t-shirts with freezer pencil stencils and fabric paint and made our headbands with hot glue and felt.
It took a few tries but we finally got a decent family shot of all our costumes!  Since Halloween is also my birthday Bryce got up with Claire in the morning and let me sleep in, probably my favorite birthday gift this year :).  After I woke up Bryce went and picked up Einstein Bagels and a Diet Coke from Mcdonalds for my birthday breakfast.  He is seriously the best.  We spent most of the morning eating bagels, watching cartoons with Claire, and lounging around in our pjs.  Later while Claire napped we finished our costumes (the ears) and got everything ready for trick or treating.  After Claire woke up we got ready, took a few pictures, and then headed to Morgan for the business trick-or-treat.
Claire didn't quite get the whole trick-or-treating thing, but she was thrilled about all of the candy.  Every time she got a new piece of candy she'd reach in her bucket and ask "Treat? Pwease?"  We tried to move her along and distract her so she wouldn't be eating candy all night long, but we were only successful some of the time haha.  She definitely ate her fair share of sugar.

After the business trick-or-treat stopped at Bryce's parents for a bit and then took Claire trick-or-treating at both my grandparents' houses.  We ran into my sister's family at my Grandma Richins' so Claire got to play with Lydia outside for a few minutes.

After we finished trick-or-treating we went to my parent's house to celebrate my birthday with my family.  My mom made homemade Chilli and pumpkin caramel sheet cake.  Both were so yummy!  Claire and Lydia played and ate more candy while we all got to visit and take turns holding Laci's new baby boy Casen.  Someone finally looked at the clock around 10 and we decided we had better get our tired babies home to bed.

We tried to get a picture of the three grand babies in their matching Halloween pjs from my mom... and this is the best we got haha.  #Toddlers

Halloween, you are my favorite!  I already can't wait for next year.
